SLEEPS TOR TWO DAYS.
MAN'S STRANGLE EXPERIENCE. WRONG MEDICINE TAKEN. A strange experience on the part of ' a Napier resident who is fairly wellknown, has been reported. Feeling completely out of sorts he visited a doctor, who told him that he needed a holiday and should cease worrying over anything at all. The patient said that lie could not sleep and bis appearance bore, out his statement. The man of physic gave him two prescriptions, one a well-known tonic and the other u sleeping draft. In ,] U e time these prescriptions were made up and the patient went home. Having; much faith in the doctor the patient decided that he could not have too much of a good thing, so he promptly swallowed a goodly portion of the tonic. lie soon became so drowsy rlia) lie had to be carried to bed, where he slept soundly all night. He forgot to wake up next morning, and his .friends became alarmed. However, he was permitted to sleep on. \ As night fell, alarm gave place to j consternation, and the doctor was hur- j riedly summoned. j Everything possible was done to I wake up the patient, but without ef- j feet, and he continued, to sleep on. After exertions extending o,ver 24 j hours, the over-tired man was induced : to return to a normal condition. j When he was sufficiently composed, ' he was fold by the medical man that j he had taken about, six normal doses of the sleeping draft, and that as he had had a complete rest he would not need the J onie nor the holiday.—Tele- , graph. !
