PICTURES AND VAUDEVILLE. THURSDAY AND FRIDAY. Xylophonists extraordinary is the description of Rcnaux and Arta, who are included on the programme at the King’s on Thursday and Friday. Their lightning and brilliant performance with the hammers have earned them great fame, while their repertoire includes the most unique ragtime melodics and operatic gems. A change of pictures and programme will be ottered each evening. The Prince’s visit to Auckland. Rotorua, and Wellington, will also be show - ;. These pictures give an excellent idea of the wonderful children’s displays in Auckland and Wellington and the unique Maori reception at Arawa Park, Rotorua. Parents could not do better than allow their children to sec these historic scenes.
LYRIC QUARTETTE. TOWN 'HALL—TO-NIGHT. In the lyric quartette, opening at the Town Hall this evenig, patrons can. look forward td enjoying one of the best musical organisations yet heard in this 'town. The blending of their voices is admirable, and so skilful is their modulation that no orchestra could be more perfectly balanced. Every variety of taste is catered for in their contributions which range from the humorous to the sublime. In nursery rhymes, they specialise with their quaint harmonics, while in the treatment of ballads their tender and sympathetic delivery invariably gets the house “to a man.”
Individually, too, they éxcel. while their assisting artists, Mis Jessie Bartlett, the well-known contralto, and Miss Evelyn Harvey, a gifted pianist,
