RECENT RAILWAY STRIKE.
INQUIRY AT HAND. MR J. B. BULLOCK TO BE CHAIRMAN. It is just possible, but not probable, that the Conciliation Tribunal which is to hear the A.S.R.S. section railway dispute——a body which arose out of the recent. railway strike——will begin its sittings to-day. The probabilities are, however, that a beginning will not be made before to-inorrow. ‘hit J. B_ Bullock, New‘ Zealand superintendent of the New Zealand Shipping Company, who was asked to be chairman of the tribunal, has consented to take the position Preliminaries are being arranged, and the intention is to have the proceedings in progress without. delay. A matter of interest that has to be decided is whether the conference will be open to the Press. The general feeling -is that it will be. The order of reference has not yet. been drawn up. The ground open to the tribunal to cover is very wide, but principal points will be Wages and conditions of work. Although it is pretty well understood what the order of reference will be, the actual document has yet. to be drafted. .
