NARROW ESCAPE OF FOUR ' FIREMEN. WANGANUI, this day. F A fire occurred shortly after five this ' morning at the Southern Cross Biscuit Factory in one of Jfhc confectionery packing departments. The brigade Was hampered through the seat of the fire being situated about 800 feet from the nearest’ hydrant, but succeeded in confining “the fire to the department in which it broke out". Upstairs the .damagesis estimated at about £IOOO, the gutted section of the building being insured for £500.‘ ‘ Four firemen :had a narrow escape from a. falling portion of! the brick wall.
