SALE OF EREWHON STATION.

SECTIONS PASSED IN. There was a fairly large attendance at the Three Stars Hall ou Saturday afternoon, when Messrs Williams and Kettle, Ltd., in conjunction with Messrs Hoadley, Son and Stewart, Ltd., conducted a sale of Erewhon Station, on behalf of Messrs Birch and Son. Mr Woods read the lengthy conditions of sale, and terms under which the sections wore sold, after which Mr Stewart, after apologising for the unavoidable absence of the regular auctioneer, Mr A. Reed, proceeded with the sale. There appeared to be no desire to purchase among those assembled, and bidding was very dull, which led the auctioneer to remark that apparently they were lookers-on, not buyers. Following are details of the four sections submitted: —

Lot 1. —1310 acres, divided into 9 paddocks, two cottages and yards, and good plantations. Bidding hung fire for quite a while, when £5 was offered, then a bid of £0 was made, 'followed after an interval by another of £6 10/, where it stopped, and the section was passed in. Lot 2. —3210 acres, with cottage. After a good deal of time was spent, a bid of £3 per acre was made, and this not being improved upon, the section was passed in. Lot 3. —2550 acres, with, iron shed. The first bid was £2 an acre, followed after an interval by £2 5/. No other bid being forthcoming, this section was also passed in.

Lot 4.—1330 acres, described as a nice warm section near which the new bridge would be erected over the Rangitikei River, on the Napier-Taihape road, was the next section to be offered. The fir-sf, bid was £6 per acre, at which price it hung for a while, when an additional 10/ per acre was offered, which was not enhanced, and this section was passed in. The auctioneer announced that Lot 5 (1520 acres) and Lot 6 (1960 acres, and homestead) would not be offered. After stating that the variofis sections would be open for private sale, and thanking_t.hose present for their attendance, Mr\Stcwart announced that the sale was closed.
