LONDON, May 7. The billiard champianship is being‘ ‘characterised by exclting fluctuations. Thanks to a record break, Smith had an early lead and was 1088 ahead at the opening of the fifth session. Then Falkner, in a series of brilliant efiorts" scored 1772 in ten csonsecutive hands—a performance never equalled in the‘ championship. This enabled him to get a lead of 448. The present scores are—Falkner 6001, Smith 5494.
