DEMAND FOR PRIME BEEF A.ND'« MUTTON.

.At the Addington market the yar(l~ ing of fat stock was smaller than usual, and for prime beef and mutton. there was a -good "market. Superior stuff was in poor request. Store sheep: An average yarcling, the sale being more animated’ ‘than last Week. Forward Wethers were in good denmiid, and generally the market was firmer for all classes.’ Fat lambs 19/ to 21/4, ordinary lambs 14/9 to'l9/, cull lambs 4/9 to 12/, good 2,_alld 4-tooth ewes 32/2, 2,4, 6, and 8-tooth ewes 25/ to 28/, inferior‘ 4, 6, -and 8-tooth ewes 18/9 to 24/3, .4, and 5-year ewes 20/6 to 25/3, good 4, 6, and S-toothwethers 29/6 to 33/, ordinary 4,6, and 8-tooth wethers 29/_B, ordinary 2—tooth wethers 29/8, ordinary 2-tooth Wethers 22/6 to 26/. Fat lambs: Au easier sale. Only one freezing buyer was.,opera.ting, and, the bulk of‘ the lighter sorts Went: to graziers, Extra prime lambs 34/ to 35/2, prime larnbs.27/3 to 32/9, prime lambs 27/3 to 32/9, medium lambs 24/9 to 26/9, lighter lambs 20/7 to 24/. Fat, sheep: The yarding of prime sheep being not more than butchers’ requirements, met with :1 firm market. Extra prime wethers 46/6 to 55/6, prime. wethers 38/ to 43/1, medium wethcrs 32/6 to 3,7/, lighter wethers 27/9 to 31/6, extra prime ewes 42/3 to 46/6, prime ewes 35/ to 41/, medium ewes 31/6 to 34/6, lighter ewes 31/3 to 30/. Fat cattle: There was an -improved sale for prime beef, equal to quite 20/ on last Weck’s sales. Superior sorts were not in request. Extra prime steers. to £2B 5/, prime steers £l9 to £24 5/, medium steers £ls to £lB 6/, lighter steers £ll 10/6 to £l4 15/, prime heifers £l3 5/ to £22‘ 15/, ordinary heifers £9 5/ to £l2 17/6, prime cows £l3 10/ to £l6 17/6, ordinary cows £6 7/6 to £l2 10/. Store cattle: A weak sale.- A line of 2§~yeal'-old steers -brought £8 7/6, prices ranging fell‘ yearlings from £2 to £3 15/, potters £5 to £6. Dairy cattle: There was poor competition. ‘Second calvers brought up to £l7 .5/, fourth c-alvers up to £l2. Fat pigs: The supply was large, with a big production of unfinished sorts. Thedemand was Weak, and lighter classes did not reach 106. per lb. Choppers £7‘ to £lO 4/, extra heavy baconers £6‘ to: £7, others £5 5/ to £5 15/, average price per lb 10d. There was a nlcdil'lm“ yarding of sheep at. Eastown yards on Wednesday and prices were on a par with the prc~ xjious week’s sale. There was very lifle demand for aged, or low-condi-tioned sheep, but in forward lines the bidding "w‘es"ll'lore spirited and only four lines were passed in. The following were the prices .in‘ order of s‘éLle:—142 lambs 16/, 127 two and four-tooth wethers 32/6, 98 4-year empty ewes 20/9, 95 Wethers 30/, 25 mixed and aged ewes 24/6, 168 4, and 6-tooth wethers 22/6, 48 fat and forward empty ewes 25/10, 44 wethers 20/, 26 aged ewes 7/6, 126 ewes 22/, lambs 1.1/6, do. 17/10, aged wethers 15/, as wethers 28/3. There was a large yarding of cattle.
