VVIEILLINGTON, April 25!
In View of the fact that an announcement has been made of payment to various d(—_‘pal'tl‘nelltS of the Civil Service of a cost of living bonus and ill-at no similar announcement has been made to mexnbers of the teaching profession, the following telegram was to-day dispatched to the Minister of lfiducntionz “Vve observe a state ment in the press of a bonus being: paid to oflicers of various departnienxse of the Civil Service. but no simil:l:announcement has beenlmade 1-egax-(L ing teachers. \Ve trust that in j11:.~‘tice to a class of public servants who. in many instances, live in conditions most unfavourable, you will »safeguar(l their interests by a.l'l'anging for the simultaneous payment of 9. bonus» to them also."
