' VVELLINGTON, this day. At a meeting df members of the Post and Telegraph Association, a motion was proposed that, failing recognition of the Association through the executive. a ballot should be organised, and if necessary the executive should be called upon to take extreme action. It was asserted that members had to work at night, and get their wives to take in sewing in order to support their families. ‘ Some speakers thought the proposal too drastic, and an amendment Was carried demanding an interview within seven days regarding the increases‘ Failing this, a monster meeting of all I branches be held on Sunday, May 9th, to decide what action to take. The executive was requested to call a con- } ference with a view to properly organ-5 ‘ ising the Association to meet emergen- ‘ cies. l The secretary said a message was received from Mr Massey, which was ‘interpreted to mean that the bonus 3 alleged to have been proniisml by Sir J. ’ Ward was not to be paid. The meet.- ‘ ing resolved, ’insistin‘g on :1 straiqhtout. reply within three days, and if the } answer was in the negative the meet.- ; ing; pledge itself to stand by any action: | the executive may think fit.
