The election of a Railway Board to undertake ‘the construéftion of a standard gauge railway between Te AwamlT{u and Putaruru, connecting the Main Trunk w'lth ‘the Rotorua line by a shorter route, too place yesterday. There were ten candidates. This is the first Railway Board elected under ‘the Local Railways Act in thc-'Domin—-ion.
