The ‘Ambassadors of Belgium and "Italy have informed M. Millei-and that their Governments associated themselves With the steps taken by Britain with a view to taking collective action against Germany in order to enforce complete execution of the Treaty of Versailles
Mr. Lloyd George, speaking‘ at the docks in Marseilles, said he had always approached the question of the relationship with‘ France, which was still champion of the liberty of -the world, with a feeling of the sincerest affection. The war was won‘ by close Anglo-French union. which alone could secure the fruits of-victory and maintairr future civilisation. The British and French must march.together, and the best means of smoothing their difficulties was the greatest frankness. .. i i

Signor Nitti, Italian Premier, and Signor Scialoja, Minister for Foreign Affairs. Mr Lloyd ‘George, Lord Curzon, M. Millerand and M. Berthelot met at Devachan Castle, and arranged the programme of the conference. The first matters to be discussed relate to the Turkish Treaty.
The Paris “Temps,” San Remo correspondent says that the‘ two main questions are the Turkish problem and the disarmament of Germany. The conference will not deal with the Adriatic, as the Jugoslav Government intimated at the last moment that it was not ready to attend.
THE TERRIBLE CANCER SCOURGE.
LONDON, April 17.
The Governors of Middlesex Hospital have agreed to the amalgamation of tfie cancer research department and the Blind Sutton Institute of Pathology; with the object of nlore closely investigating the cancer scourge. The Dean of the medical school dwelt on the terrible character -of the scourge and the importance of concentrating efforts. This will be better realised when it is known that one woman in eight and one man in eleven died of cancer in England and Wales.
