F The story of the rat which was fed ?for' some days on the “-poison?’ suplplied by" the Auckland City Council, related by Mr ~W. J. Holdsworth at a meeting of the City Council a month ago, has a sequel. This Mr Holdsworth narrated at last evening’s meeting of the council. He said he had submitted a packet of the m:ix~ ture to the Government analyst, who had reported that it contained no trace of certain poisons which he named. There were slight traces only of phosphorus, which was probably oxidised, in which state it would become -.a tonic instead of a__poison. That, said Mr Holdsworth, was the mixture on which the rat he had referred to -had thriived for so ‘long. The Mayor remarked that while the matter hada humorous ‘side it also had -9. serious one. If the mixture supplied by the council for exterminating ratswas not effective steps must be taken to procure one that Was,
