Official reports show that dough! conditions continue in ' the ' western districts, "the north-west plains and slopes, parts of ‘the Riverina country and southwest slo-pes, where the re-_ ‘cent rains were insuNcient to relieve the situation. Crops are largely a failure, herbage scant,‘ and much hand-feeding is necessary, There have been heavy‘ losses of stock. Ploughing has been delayed, and the outlook for the winter is gloomy unless there are good rains soon. In other districts, particularly coastal, crops and other conditions are generally favourable. .
