i Lovers of the good old game of football are beginning to wake up -and the prop-osalgthat a club be formed, ‘composed of Utiku, Ohutu,_-and VVinifita players is being taken up enthusiastically here, and with the view of i)utting the proposed club on -.l’ sound footing, a meeting is to be held on the 18th inst., and a hearty invitation is extended to all interested to be present. The meeting is to be held 011 the Recreation Ground, Utiku. Seeing that lovers of outdoor amusewoent. are preparing for the winter, the question arises, “How are the long Winter evenings, that Will soon be upon us, to be spent?” Dances no .d_ol_J.bt will be prominent, but at Sogialt ‘bfiiub eculd «be easily formed, and} would do much to bring thedpeoplel together, with benefit to themselves and the township. The Ohutu Social Club ‘Was a great success last ‘year, for various tastes were catered for in] the _way of euchre, debates, sociz=.is' and “Your Own” hopes to see something -of this kind‘ in Utuku this Win-I ter. , " "1
Mr F. Harte, wh -for ‘some considerable time has been clerk at the local Railway Station, has left for Rangataua. It is not known if Mr :Harl:e’s appointment to that place is permanent or not, but we hope to Se Mr Harre back again in Utiku, for by his kindly, obliging_manner Mr Harte made a host of "friends; who will Wish him well Wherever hé may be. ‘ - ;
Mr J. C. Ross, honorary secretary of the Christensen Relief Fund wishes me to acknowledge with thanks, the receipt of 10/ to’-.v:n~ds that fund from Mrs s. Powell, TaiIhalpe. “Your Own” wishes to give a. final reminder of the dance that is to be held on Friday night. The committee have the arrangements completed and the ladies"committee have the supper arrangement Well in liand and as Uutiku suppers are f always good, those who attend the dance ‘will’. be well catered for in all respects;-,5 Apart from the Worthy object of the dance———to assist one in‘ need of assist- 3 ance, the dance itself will be well; worth attending. |
