ON VOYAGE TO MELBOURNE‘

VVELLINGTON, This.‘ Day.

The secretary of the G.P.O. has received the following telegram from the Superintendent of Awarua. wireless station:—“S.S. Westralia, bound from Bluff to Melbourne, late last night Wirelessed to Melbourne for immediate assistance. She repogted having run aground. The exact position is not aseertainable, though strong static. interference, but is is presumed the Ship is in the vicinity of Bass Straits. The s.s. Loongana is -already hurrying to the ship’s assistance, and a destroyer was to leave immediately steam was available. From observation up till 7 oiclock this morning it would appear there is no immediate danger to the vessel, and the position seems Well in hand.”
