WELLS WINS AGAIN.

‘ Bombardier Wells knocked out Eddie McGoort.y, the American middleweight iu the sixteenth round of their match at the :HolbQ—l'D Stadium. It was a brilliant fight, hut Wells held a con. siderable advantage throughout. In the early rounds Wells did most of the scoring, while McGroorty clinch» ed often. He shook Wells in the fourth round with :1 right to the jaw, but thereafter Wells boxed confidently, and seemed to have McGool-ty at his mercy in the eighth round, hitting him round the ring and severely pun” ishing him. MGGOorty made a wonderful recovery and gave :1 good dis‘ play in the ninth, though the crowd had expected VS/'ells to finish him off in this session. The Americzin showed extraordinary. cleverness in stalling off‘ his opponent. Wells did not attempt :1 knock—out, but wnseontent to box in] great style, This enabled l\lcGoort_\,' to‘ ‘recover, and he nearly knocked outj L\V(‘lls in the Twelfth with a hook to the point. Wells uppercut at the same iristant, and both were shaken. Both fought” hard for’ a knockout during the remainder of the round. They were "greatly distressed, and both appeared likely to drop from exhaustion. It was 9. thrilling hound. Wells was superior thereafter. He knocked ;l\lcGoorty down in the fourteenth, and the American gradually weakened. It was only his supreme cleverness and gameness tlmt enabled him to reach the sixteenth round. '
