A meeting of the Exeézutive Committee of the St. Patl'lEk’s Day Sports Club was held in the Fire Brigade Hall on Friday evening last. Mr _Arthur James occupied the chair. _ The balance-sheet of the sports meeting was submitted by the scoretary, Mr E. Lenihan, and was as fol--lows:—-
Receipts: Nominations, acceptances, and reistrations, £ll6 19/4; concert receipts, £IOO 17/; cash donations received, £76 1/6; sports programme, advertising, and sales, £29 4/6; members’ ticket sales paid in, £8; gate receipts, £BS 1/3; side shows,’ £2 16/, sale of badges, £2 15/; canteen receipts, £36 17/11, value of trophies donated, £4’o 13/6. Total, £499, 6/0. Expenditure: Cash prizes paid, £146 2/; timber, £5 16/11; J. Quirk (refreshments), £7; P. E. Wakeman (board for concert party“) £5; Borough Council, subsidy, £10; percentage of gates, £8 10/; canteen expenses, eartage, etc., £27 5/10; labour, £7 5/; nails and twine, £4 13/6; printing and advertising, £43 14/; handicapper and starter, £5 5/; legs and dummies, £3O 7/; insurance, etc., £4l’ 2/4; canteen employees’ wages, £6; Hamilton Hodges, £64. 10/; progra\mm"e“sellers, £1 5/5; cheque book, 10/; sundry accounts, postage‘, -stationefry, iete., £6 6/8; value of trophies allotted, £4O 13/6. Total, £499 6/. The following supplementary statement; was also i"ea(l:— ' Estimate to further receipts: Balance as per pass book, £lO5 11/10; donations outstanding, £3l 18/; programme advertisements to collect, £6; members ticket sales, £2; concert ticket sales, £4; nominations unpaid £3, cash in hand, £3 9/5. Total, £15519/3. From this amount the following has to be deducted: Unpresented cheques, £3O 12/; sundry expenses, 12/6; band, £8 10/; hire of ball, £3l; repairs to tent, £5 2/8; J.’ Bartosh (badges supplied), £2; Athletic Union, 14/6; Axemen’s Association, £1 10/. Total, £53 1/8, leaving a credit. balance of £lO2 17/7. The secretary explained that the balance-sheet. had not yet. been audited. '
Mr E. McLaughlan moved that the balance-sheet as read he adopted, subject to audit. Seconded by Mr D. Neagle. The chairman said from the balance, sheet it would be seen that the net: credit balallce’a7t "the time the balancesheet was drawn up was £7-.1: 19/10, and when the amounts as set out. in the sLtpplelnenta.ry eqtimate were W0u11:)(1 up the net balance would be £lO2 17/7. This, in his opinion, was a most satisfactory position, ~especially when it was considered the liberal programme provided. The concert put on as an attraction was a fitting end to a good day’s sp_ort?s~. ' v The secretary explained that there would be no -difficulty in collecting the amounts appearing in the Supplementary statement as being due.

Mr E. McLaughlan said in View of the very creditable ba.lailce-sheet. it was only fitting that some ‘recompense should be given to the secretary for the enormous amount of time -Lnd labour he had put if to mako the sports meeting a, success. He moved fhat an honorarium of £lO be Voted to Mr Lenihan.
Mr James, in seconding the motion, said from previous experience he knew the position entailed a lot of work, and he bore testimony to the value of Mr I.enihan’s endeavours. Comments lieard on all sides were very laudatory. The motion was carried unanimously. Mr Lenihan briefly returned tlianks, stating when he took on the work it was not Wifif any idea. of necompcnse, but solely in the interests of the Sports Club.
‘The protest against Green for not sending in his proper performances was brought undef discussion, the secretary stating that the money had been paid over when Green signed the declaration before a J.P., but the trophy had been retained. Mr James said they should certainly take further action in the matter. They should inform the Axemen’s As,fsociation of the ;cil'mlmstancee,]and ask it to deal with ‘the alleged misrepresentation. «
Eventually it wa§ decided to leave the matter in the hands of the executive Committee, to "take what action it. considered advisE'a'.ble. The meeting then adjourned. V
