LOCALLY-OWNED LINER.

ENTHUSIASTIC DINNEE. GISBORNE, this day. There was a large attendance at the public dinner held to celebrate the arrival of the first locally-owned liner, the Poverty Bay Meat Company's steamer Admiral Codrington. Speeches eulogising the enterprise were made by Mr W. D. Lysnar, M.P., chairman of directors of the company. Dr. Chappel, ex-M.P. of the House of Commons, Capt. Plunkett, Lloyd’s representative, C. A. De Lautour, chairman of directors of the Gisborne Sheepf armors’ Company, and others. Great enthusiasm was shown by six hundred guests.
