An explanation was recently sought by the NZ. Returned Sol(liers’- Asso~ ciatio-n for the fact that the interest charged on advances under the Discharged Soldiers’ Settlement-Act is highep than on other State ailvances. The Secretary to the Treasury has‘ replied that in January provision was made for a restrospective reduction on advances under the soldiers’ Settlement scheme, and tli.-at the question of readjustment is now being dealt with by the Lands Department.
