WEDDING.

" A wedding in which more than ordinary interest was manifested was s'olem_ni_sea in the Mefhgdiéf ‘Chéuurchm yesterday afiternoon, when Rev. W. H.‘ Hocking, eldeét _son of Mr and Mfs 3. T, Hocking. of Palmerston North, was .:united in the bonds of holy matrimony
to Miss Mabel Ethel Williams, youngesr daughter of the late Mr F. M. and ‘Mrs VVillia.ms, of this town. The
church was prettily decorated, festoons of beautiful flowers, in which asters predominated, set oif with a. dainty intermingling of asparagus fern hanging over the altar. The church was crowded to the doors with friends and‘ well-wishers——-a striking testimony to the esteem and respect in which the contracting parties were held. As the ‘bridal party ‘entered the church the organ peeled forth the joyous strains of the “Wedding March” from Wag_ner’s “Lohengrin.” The bride, who was given away by her brother, Mr “W. P. Williams, of Warlganui, ‘looked charming in an ivory efepe de Vgphine and georgette gown, with silk ‘and pink Oriental beadings and pearl trimmings, and the orthodox veil and orange blossom-s.' She carried a bouquet of white and pink asters and irink belladonnas, with asparagus fern. She was attended as chief bride.sn‘laid, by Miss Minnie Dean, of Huntcrville, costumed in a powder blue ninon over pink‘satin_.' trimmed with rosebuds, and hat to match. She carried a bouquet of heliotropeu asters,’with maidenhair
and. asparagus ferns. The -sccondé bridesmaid was Miss Ethel Hocking‘ (sister of the bridegroom), of Pal-i morston North", who was dressed in] shell pink crepe de chine and geor-”“ gette h*a.nd-embroidered, with hat to} mafch. Hex‘ bouquet was of pinki
asfers and pink belladonnas with 5 asparagl_ls.fern. ‘The briqegroom was _ supportéd by Mr A. M. Costain, of Wangafiui, while Mr E. Johansen, of Palmerston was groomsinan. The Rev. E. L. Blamires, chairman of the Tara-

itous toasts were honoured. The toast: of the “Bride and Bridegroom” was proposed by the chairman, and‘ responded to by Mr Hocking, who thanked ‘the proposer for his kindly remarks, and those present for the cordial
manner in whi‘c"h they had received it} He dig not 2'eg‘rct coming to Taihape; his experience had been broadened and his vision enlarged. Mr R. Gibbs, in. 2, happy little speech, pro-

ciation of the earnest lafbours of Mr Hocking during his_sojourn in Taihape. He wished the newly-married couple every -happiness. During his
rmmn-ks Mr Cunxiinghanle stated thafi this occasion was probably the first
time most of the guests hadlbeen present at the marriage of .a minister, and
certainly it was the first time they
had done so in Taihape, as it was the first event of its kind to occur here. The presents were many and costly,
including several cheques.
After fhe breakfast. Mr and Mrs Hocking went by motor to MangaWeka, where they took the train south. The bride was custumed in a navy blue travelling dress, with
navy and gold hat to match. After spending the honeymoon in the south part of the North Island, Mr and Mrs Hocking will proceed to Roxbungh, in Central Otago, to which station‘ ‘the reverend gentlofien has been appointed. ‘
