In the House of Commons, replying to M.ajor Barnes, Mr Lloyd George said high prices were I'eme<liable only by increased pl‘0d1.1(,'l'iO11 and n:ltion'e.l economy. He anticipated that the nat.ional frevenue would balance the nafional expelldi‘rul'e. uml that the debt would be substantially reduced. There was no short cut to better conditions, which could only be achieved by :1 steadily pursued policy. The Government was considering‘ the strengthening of ‘the Pl'ol'iteel'ing Act.
