A scheme for the establishment of a daily delivery of cooked food has been started in Dunedin, a preliminary public meeting having decided to form a company for the purpose. Mrs F. The food for the initlday meal would be delivered in eontainerg lined witli glass, which would hold the lie-at for four to six liours. The dinner would .s'impl_V be lifted. from the containers hollling the Plates and placed "on the table. There would be no washing of plates-~they would go back to the kitchen to be sterilised. It was estimated fhaf in coal and labour alone this plan would reduce the eoS’t. of meals for 50 famil» ies by £7OO :1 year. Other speakers who advocated the experiment were Professor M-alcolni‘, Mrs; Linrlo Ferguson, and Mr Mark Cohen.

It was explained that a hot cooked dinner could be delivered for 1/6, this comprising three courses——soup, meat, two vegetables, -and pudding. The menu would give a limited’ choice, and the order for the dinner would have to be given a day in advance. The meeting decided to proceed with the formation‘ of a company, and applications were ‘thereupon made be’?-11 for shares and for registration as 0115tomers. A ’ L
