RECORD PRICES AT AUCKLAND.
AUCKLAND, March 23.
Record prices fior Auckland were realised at the hide sales, a small parcel of stout ox hides realising 2/3 per lb. The pride fixed by the Government for similar hides prior to the adoption of the new regulations as to sale was 1/I}. Prices for good cow hides ranged from 1/Shto 2/0 1-8 d per lb. Country butchers’ ox hides realised as much as 4/ per lb Very M-my catalogues were submitted, including a large percentage of freezing works hides,_ experts exgressfig the opinion that the selection‘ tvas the ‘ingest and best that had been offered mziuckland for -some years. Under the new regulations tanners have a pre-emptive right to take whatever hides they require at the price determined by the sales. This right was freely exercised, tanners claiming nearly all lots offered -after exporters had bid 11-3 in their limit. '
