THEDA BAR.-X IN “DLT BARRY.” Speaking of the “Du B:lrr_\"’ pic. fure Which “Ours” are showing at the" Town Hall to-night only, a contemporary says: “There -is a strong element. of surprise in the presentation of “Du Barry” yesterday. . . . .The‘ audiences that viewed it were amazed’ not only at the gorgeousness of the production, but at the brilliant work of Theda Bare in the presentation of’ this greatest of the Win. Fox photoplays.” This story of “Du Barry,” the favourite’ of Louis XV., has'been attempted in many forms, but only the screen, it would appear, can truly present it to the world. Miss Bara has grasped the subtleties of the character in a Wonderful Way, and for gorgeousness of scene and costnming, nothing like it has ever been prseented before on the screen. A new Sunshine comedy, “Wild Waves and Women” rvill also be shown to-night. - .____.._.._.. THE KING'S. ._,..___. ‘ ‘ SHACKLED. ” To-night Louisa Glaum will again be seen in the Paralta masterpiece, “Shackled.” The story is typically true to life, ordinary everyday events, and thus devoid of artificial colouring it makcsits appeal directly and forcibly. Miss Louisa Grlaum in her interpretation of a woman with a past and her great endeavour "to live it «lorm. acted the best role she has appeared in for some considerable tinie. Patrons last evening speak in gloxving terms of this feature, which is :ul-.)t‘»:ier laurel for The King’s already largo scroll of fame for big features. On Thursday, Crissy White and Harry Edwards will be seen Fn Hepwcrth’s English production. "The "‘H-inging Judge.”
