EXTRAORDINARY BOOM IN LONDON OF NEW ISSUES.
Received 11.40 'a.m. LONDON, March 15‘
There is an e.xtraordinal'y boom in new issues during February. Twentyfive millions new capital were issued. 'l‘o-day’s 11CWSpap€I'S are advertising fourteen issues, totalling sixteen million. A feature of the prospectuses is the offer of part—icipa.tion in preference shares at interest ranging from 7 to 10 per cent. These are proving very attractive, and investors are’ largely selling less"rernunerative holdings, thus affecting the stock market, and especially depressing gilt edged securities. Some financial authorities anticipated an early rise in the bank rate, but are doubtful if this will eliecli the flow of issues, most of which are being fully subscribed.
