The report of Mr Justice stringer in regzud to the recent. sitting of the Railway Wages Board is the subject of a circular letter from the president and general secretary of the .-.\nl.ll—gainated Society of Railway Servants to the Executive Councillors. The letter state‘s: "The report: makes no recoxiiinendation for any alteration \\'hatsoever in working hours and conditions in general. The executive regards the report as very unsatist'a.etory, and now desires branches to convene meetings to discuss the matter with a view to making reeoinniendations ‘as to what fur;ther action should be taken to secure ;"‘ B'l‘o‘dtei' measure of justice than the ll'9Pol't.l>l'oV'ides for, and advise‘ the iOXCBII‘FIVe of the result, so ‘that it [may kIIOW the feeling of members ugenerally when the matter is further considered. The questions submitted to the bra-nches are:—“(l) Should we accept the report and bonus offered at earliest possible date? (2) If the bonus is not accepted what course do you suggest the executive should take in order to secure a greater measure of justice‘? With regard to the second question the executive sta2tes'thait. it expects clearcut, definite proposals from the branches, which members as a whole must be ‘prepared to back up if necessary, at the call of the executive. é\_‘ignal‘urCg to the proposals are also suggested, taking care that the opinions fol'war¢_led -to the executive represent the real feeling of members.
