BURGLARY AT HAWERA.

RISK BUT NO BOOTY

HAVVERA, This E?-ay

Sometime between Saturday niglzi: and early this. morning the safe of Purser and Andex-son’s furniture shop was blown open with some high explosive inserted through the keyhole. It was ignited by means of a fuse, and a featherstuffed cushion was placed over the keyhole to muffle the sound. The explosion in the inner :seciion of me door wrenched it off its bolts, and the door was blown open. The burglars did their work in vain, for there happened to be no money in the safe. The police have the matter in hand.
