MONTHLY MEETING

The monthly meeting of the Taihape and district Patriotic. Society was held at their ofliee last night, Mr Wriglitson being in ‘the chair, when the Returned Soldiers’ Committee ’s report was read. It showed that during the past month 35 cases had been dealt with, 33 having been assisted, and two declined.

The visiting commit-tee reported that during the past month there had been on an average of eight men in the local hospital; these had been regularly visited, and £lO 18/ expended in the way of extras on the patients’ behalf. Also that the wife of one. ex-soldier has been visited by the Ladies’ Committee. Through the .medium of the Hospital Committee six extra beds are being added to the local hospitn‘l, as accommodation there has not been adequate for some time past. ‘
