UNPLEASANT EXPERIENCE.
i The experience of two ladies on {their way from Gisborne to Rotorua. {recently will give some idea of the ldifficultieas that may be experienced tin obtaining accommodation. They thad taken the «precaution to book a; jroom at Wihakatane, but as the car did not arrive until about 9 o’clock at night,» they were told that bookings were cancelled at 8 p.m., and that no accommodation was available. The ‘year was driven round and other places visited, but Without success, and in despair, ‘the Young ladies sought counsel at the police station. They related their plight, and Sergeant Cummings very kindly rang up all the places he knew of that might have ace commodation, but without success, and as the hour was getting late the difiiclllty was increased. Thegjfigxe thought of a steamer which happonéli to be in port that night, and communicated with the captain. . Tia‘ latter at once responded to the call, the stewardess was sought out, and the ladies were given ’;('.(.‘.OllllnOd3.tioll. on the vessel, feeling very grateful for the kindness shoxxjn them.
