At the Chambers of Comnlerce Conference on Thursday afternoon some discussion took piece on a Damnevirke renlit——“Th:lt the Government be urged to- make thorough investigation with a View of ascertaining the extent of the operations of the American Meat Trust in New Zes.‘land.»” The chairman (Mr W, Grow, Dunedin), pointed out that some eighteen months ago the Government had set up a. committee to illvestigate the matter, and that «committee had presented a very voluminous report, which he exhibited to the conference.
Mr J.'T. Martin (Wellington) added that by their legislation to prevent any company exporting meat from the Dominion without a license, the Government -had also taken power to curb the operations of the trust in this country.
