ST. PATRICK’S DAY SPORTS.
Record nominations have been received fol' the .va.l-ious lxandicap events in connection with the sports meeting on St. Patrick’s. Day. For the four chopping events 101 nominations have been -received, and there will be nineteen competitors in the two sawing events. The five athletic events on the programme have attractedza. large number of competitors, the nominations totalling seventy,‘ including several competitors from outside districts.
At a meeting of -the executive committee last night, it was decided that a. wrestling event. (Cumbel,-land style) be added to the ‘programme. the guaranteed prize money for the winners to he not less than £2, I'7; was also decided to add a Fire Brigade evenf—— a two men coupling; competition-—the prizes (two medals) being donated by‘: Mr J. Bartos-h. Four local teams have‘ been guaranteed for this event, -and competitors are likely to be present from Taumarunui. I-luntex-ville, and
