A protest agaimst the Governnlent’s attitude in regard to released German interneesa was voiced by the Auckland Returned Soldiers’ Association on Sunday evening, Ml‘ Geo. Elliott presiding. The matter was raised by the scoretary, Mr E. F. Andrews, calling atten-

tion to the View of the Minister for Internal Affairs, Sir Francis Bell, on the subject, to the following eEt'ect:—~That Germans who were interned were not necessarily dangerous in times of peace; that it would not be practicable to deport all such Germans, many of whom were married to English Women; and that it would be inconsistent with the peace terms that the Government should prevent the Germans from carrying on trade.
