THE TAINUI CASE.
CHRISTCHURCH, February 29 When the case for the Marine Department closed to—da" in the Magis—trate’s Court in the charge of negligence arising out of -the Tainui disaster, Mr. Donnelly, who appeared for the Marine .Depar'tme.nf, said he did not intend to call additional evidence in connection with the charge 3-Eainst Frederick William Partridge, Christchurch rnanagcr of the Vacu‘._.: Oil Company. Mr. Meyers {whc appeared for Partridge) -said he I‘nt;_.ded to apply on Monday for disinisal of the charge against his client on the grounds that there was not Suflicient evidence to warrant the laying of a charge against Partridge. The Magistratc- remarked that there did not seem to be any evidence against 'Part.~ ridge. The case was adjourned until Monday.
