SOLDIER REPRESENTATION.
LAND PURCHASE BOARDS. ‘ WELLINGTON, Feb. 27. The Minister for Lands, who has been criticised in Christchurch and Auckland for inadequate representation of returned soldiers on the Land Purchase Boards, informed a correspondent that on December 9 he sent invitations to returned soldiers’ associations to nominate representatives within a fortnight. There was slow response. Meanwhile the Department was being criticised for delay in appointing Boards, and as the Act came into force on January Ist he was obliged to appoint Boards on! January 26. Christchurch a first nominated a land agent, who, under the Act, was» debarred from acting. Ten districts have representation for soldiers, and in North Auckland, where there is no expressed complete satisfaction with the direct nomineee of soldiers, they have expressed complete satisfaction with the personnel of the Board.
