FORBIDDEN ENTERTAINMENT.
PROSECUTION AT HAMILTON. I HAMILTON, Feb. 24. 4 In the Police Court to day the Ham- ‘ ilton Theatre Royal, Ltd., was charged with holdingipulblic entertainments in the Theatre Royal and King’s Theatre on" Christmas night without having obtained the written consent of the Borough Council. Evidence was given to the effect that the company applied for permission to give picture entertainments, and this was refused by the Borough .Council. It was claimed that enteritainments were given in both houses‘. ] Three employees of the company ‘refused to answer questions, holding ?that they might incriminate themsell The Bench decided that there was {not sufficient evidence in regard to the Theatre Royal, and therefore dismissed the charge. In regard to the King’s Picture Theatre evidence was given that a picture entertainment Was held. The Bench fined the com‘pany £5 and costs £3 2/.
