FATAL ACCIDENT.
I RETURNED SOLDIER KILLED. 1 _____ I MOST HARROWING CIRCUM- § STANCES. ‘ Yesterday afternoon while Joseph John Logan and his brother were working on a fencing contract for Mr F. H. Cash, on Kaweka Road, and a. large matai ‘free had to be felled out of the fencing line. Went" asunder and the larger halt rolled on to Logan, ‘carrying him right down the hill face into a creek at the bootom, pinning him there under the water. The deceased’s brother found his efforts to remove the log would be futile and he ran for assist. ance. I-.~7.r Cash and others7?éme and removed the log, |bll’t life was then extinct. Dr Mac Dial-mid was called, but Logan had been dead some time when he arrived. The police were communicated with this mofnlng and Constable Larmer was sent to bring the body from the bush into town. On arrival, an inquest will be held.
The unfértpnate man was only 26 years ‘of age. and only recently m‘al‘s ried. He had passed through the war, and it is understood that he was about to go upon a returned 's‘6ldlel-is section of land. A large Circle of friends will extehd their sympathy with the bereaved Wife and brother.
