SPECIAL RACE MEETING AT ' RICCARTON. CHRISTCHURCH, Feb. 19. - Some time ‘ago the Canterbury Jockey Club approached ‘the Government for the purpose of obtaining la permit to hold a" special race meeting at Riccarton in honour of the visit of , flie Prince of Wales. This morning fw advice was received from the Minis- ' ter of Internal Affairs that the neces sary permission would be available. and the meeting will now be held on May 7th or Bth. The programme committee Will meet in a few days and arrange all dtails. , -. It is understood the Auckland. -Christchurch, and Wellington Trotting authorities hafve all made application -for permits to hold special meetings. So far as ‘the Christchurch clubs are concerned no reply has been received.
