—-—-o——LEGAL FEES INCREASED. Certain legal fees are to be increas~ ed in Wellington. It has been intimated that a new scale of fees has been agreed upon by the council of the New Zealand Society in regard to conveyancing charges, ‘under both the land transfer system and the deeds registration system. The increases, it is understood, vary, according to the responsibility accepted by the solicitor, from 15 per cent_ to 40 per cent. The following increases are typical: Ordinary land transfers: Original fee, £2 2/ for the first £2OO, and 7/ for every other £IOO, up to £5000; new fee, to £3 3/ for the firsti £2OO and 10/6 for every other £IOO, up to £SOOO. Deed registration Work: Old fee, .£2 2/ for the first £IOO and 10/6 on every other £100; new fee, £3 3/ for -the first £IOO and 15/ for every other £IOO. _Simi_lar increases have been made in respect to mortgage transactions, but none at all in respect to the transfer of leases.
