FEILDING, Feb. 3.
A large and represent':»ltive meeting of pastoralists, agriculturists and dairy farmers was held at Fcilding to—day at the call of the Dominion exccuetive of the Farmers’ Union, to consider the follogving questions: Are the f'al‘lners favourable 1.0 the Government fixing the prices of farm~

On the general question, Mr Hugh Burrell said nothing the Government had ever done in the control of prices had been of benefit to New Zeoland producers or consumers. He inst-ancedi operations of the hide conrmandeer to benefit tanners, and said boots were dearer than ever.‘ He s'.rengl_y objected to Government control of prices unless the Government found plaeesi to send our produce.‘ Mr John Perrett. (Sandon) t1(lV()(:'al0di the proposed Australian system forl New Zealand pastoralists to cormull The rnarketing tr thei" produce 1-yl setting up alwool council. “W 9 are dead tlg'.llllSt the Go‘\"ernment controlling our produce or prices.” Other speakers criticised the operations ot’ New Zeuland lllilla with conimandeered wool. “We are buying clothing in New Zealand at prices based. on the high prices of wool in London, not on the commandeer prices in New Ze';—lland.” ‘ It was resolved “that this meeting is not ill favour of the Government
controlling the price of wool.” 3 Some discussion took place on Mr. .Mussey’s objection to the" personnel of the commission Chos.‘.n by the producers to go to London to inxrestigafe the eonditioll‘of the meat. market.
