MEAT AND SHIPPING.
MR HAROLD BEAUCHAMP STANDS BY HIS VIEWS.
Mr Hziroid Bemiclmnip (chairman of the Bank of New Zealand), seen by 21 “Times" representative yesterday with regard to the references made to his interview with the “New Zealalld Times” at Monda_v=‘s deputation to the Prime Minister in connection‘ with the meat commandeer, said that he did not wish to get into any controversjv on the matter. He {had stated his view, and other people were, of course. at perfect liberty to state theirs. ;
“But,” nddeil Mr Beauchamp. “I think it will be found that I am quite right in regard to shipping. Seeing that the Imperial authorities have paid for the meat that they are paying a very large amount of storage 011 it, and that i'3’l’é“!llea.'t does not improve by keeping it in store, it seems only reasonable to suppose that the British Governméni will gixfe their own meat preferenée and have it lifted before other fiieaf.”
