Under -the powers given by last. ses- 1 sion’s legislation the Board of 'l'l~ade,? it is announced, is now'taking defin-j ite steps to check profiteering_ Dis-‘ trict representatives of the Ward? have not yet been appointed; but, in the meantime, arrangements have been made by the board for the in. spectors and representatives of the Labour Department in all parts of the Dominion to receive coniplaéntg as to profiteering and to for-was-2‘! pzu‘tir:ulars of the same to the board for Laking action. If a case of profitoei-ing referred to the board is considered by it to be of suflicient gravity to jusgsfy further proceedings, then the niatter will be referred to the Crown Solicl. tor for posecution. In additzion, the boad is taking an early opportunity to visit each of the four centres to hear for itself any complaints of profiteering.
