Wireless sitgnal-5. similar to the mysterious messages reported by Marconi, have beefi received at the Amalgamated Wireless Station at VVahroo-ngla. The signals repeat in Morse code the letter G, and appear to be under intelligent control.

} Latest advices from the‘ North state that Cairns received the full force of jthe cyclone from Monday night to ITuesday morning. During the night most of the residences on the waterfront were unroofed, the gale reaching the force speed of 100 miles an hour. Many gallant rescues were effected by the police ambulance. The damage in Cairns is now estimated at thirty-nine thousand .pounds. News from the back country makes the position more serious: than was at first anticipated. The town of Mt. Molloy, was almost totally destroyed, and hardwood forests were levelled to the ground. Many other towns suffered partial destruction, but so far only one death is reported, a scrubfeller being drowned in Russell river.
