Store sheep.——Forwa:;'d lanibs made from 22/ to 24/, ordinary 18/6 tq 21/6, inferior 14/ to 16/9, culls 8/1 to 13/11, 2-tooth half-bred ewes to 26/, 4 and 6-tooth ewes (North Island) to 25/2, full-/mcuth ewes 19/9 to 23/9, 6-tooth wethers 27/3, orclinlaw 18/9 to 24/, inferior 15/ to 17/. '
Fat lambs.———63oo were penned, and except for a few pens they Were of really prime quality, but were lighter than usual. A firm tone prevailed tliroughout, the freezing buyers acquiring the bulk of the entry. Extra prime lambs made to 35/4, prime 28/ to 32/4, medium 24/10 to 28/, lighter 21/6 "to 24/6.
Fat -sheep.———There wwas a fat sheep yarding of seven races, compared» with nine the previ-ous week, this being only slightly in excess of butchers’ require—ments. The demand was keen, and prices were from 4/ to 2/ better than last. week. Extra prime wethers made to 45/10, prime wethers 37/3 to 43/10, medium 31/ to 36/6, lighter 24/6 to 30/, prime ewes 35/9 to 41/1, medium ewes 29/9 to 34/1, lighter 22/ to 28/. Fat Cattle.——The fat cattleyarding was 9345, com-pared with 425 last week, and the demand was slightly easier‘, although the values were fairly well maintained. Extra prime steers made £26 10/ to £2B 5/, prime £2O 12/ to £25 15/, medium £ls 2/6 to £l9 10/, lighter £l2 17/6 to’£l4 12/6, prime heifers £l2 17/6 to £ls, lighter £7 17/6 to £lO 2/6, prime crows £l4 to £l9 5/, light and inferior cows £9 15/ to £l3 12/6, average per 1001 b £2 2/6 to £2 15/. Dairy CowS.—There was a good yarding, which included some cows and sprin-gingkheifers of more than average quality. The demand was moderate. Good first calvers made to £l4, third and fourth calvers £l3 to £l4.
Stzore Ca.ttle.—These were 21. mixed lot, inferior cows predominating, and buyers opevated at a lower figure. Dry cows nlade to £j_7 7/6, empty heifers £4; 12/6 to £6 10/, 3-year steers ‘to £7 10/, yearling to 18-months cattle £3 12/6 to £4.
Vealel‘s.—There was 9. Inoderate entry of vcalers. The demand for veal continues keen, and ‘values advanced. Medium runners £5 5/ to £6 15/11, good vealers £3 17/6 to £4 15/, medium calves £2 2/6 to £2 17/G, small and inferior calves 6/ to 25/.
Fat pigs.——Medium fat pigs were in very good demand. Choppers made £5 10/ to £8 10/, heavy baconers £7 14/ to £B, ordinary £6 to £6 15/ (the. average price per lb was 11%-d); heavy porkers £4 10/ to £5 5/, ordinary £3 15/ to £4 5/ (average price 10%§d to ]ld per lb). -Store pigs.——'l‘here was a fair entry. The best stores made £3 8/ to £3 18/, medium £2 8/ to £2 18/, small £2 to £2 13/, weaners 25/ to 38/, sows in pig £B.
1 Abraham and Williams, Ltcl., report on Marton sale held on Tuesday as follows. An exceptionally heavy entry of sheep came forward.‘ all classes except me. 2-ths met with a ready sale. The demand for lambs was very keen. We quote as fo1lows:—Woolly lambs 18/, ‘~2O/2, shorn lambs 15/9', 16/3, medium do. 12/, 13/6, small 9/3 to 10/6, culls 5/ to 8/. m.s. 2ths 26/5 to 27/. small do. 21/. 2-th ewes 24/3, 27'/9, 4-th ewes 29/9,‘ 2-th wethers 28/2 29/, fair do. 21/, 24/9, and 4-th do. 27/4, 29/, forward ewes 20/, 24/, fat do. 30/.
