The latest arrest affected is that of an individual named Louis Blanquart, who, While entangled in the weg of a fa.mous woman spfr at Antwerp: is alleged to have been of great service to the Germans. This woman, who was the daughter of a German general, was kn-':.wn as “the blonde lady..” She occupied an old castle outside ‘Antwerp, but figured on the lists of the Allied intelligence services as head of the school of espionage at Antwerp, and one ofithe most notorious and nxost successTful of its agents.~ The pupils of this school war-=: subjected to a most sigma-us intensive training, and it is said that they were only entrusted with missions after having made at least two successful trial trips on their own lnitintiv-:-. into the Allied lines. It is the boast of the Germans, even to this day‘, that the greatest benefit was conferred on Germany by the fall of Antwerp, which afforded special facilities for successful spy work.
