Mayor Gunson has telegraphed to the Premier: Suggest for your cO-nsidel':l- - the following to be Submitted to the p*a.rties concerned for iininediate settlement of the coalminers‘ dispute: (1) The miners’ deniands 215 W wages and con(.ll‘tions to be re.t'ez':'ed to a special tribunal of five members, whose decision shall be -accepted by both. miners land owners. (2) The special tribunal shall consist of two persons appointed by the ininers, and two persons appointed by the owners, none of whom shall be directly concerned in the dispute. These shall appoint. a fifth member, who slml] be chairman, and if they fail to make sueli appointment the Government. shall appoint such fifth member. who shall not be directly concerned in the dispute. The Government shall defray the cost.
(3) The minors to abandon "the “goslow” policy and forthwith produce the maximum output. The Mayor adds: This would over-_ come 1110 difiiculties facing ‘the Government, owners, and minors. The position in Auckland is Such that I trust the matfer may be arranged im--Inodi=at(>l_V.
