TO GENTLEMEN’S CLUB.
LESENSING PROSECUTIONS AT LIASTERTON. MASTERTON, Jan. 23. Cases of alleged breaches 0f UlO Licensing Act, in which considerable interest is being taken, were called at the S.M. Court ‘to-d.a.y. In connection with the recent visit of the police to the Master-ton Gentlemen’s Club, two cases were mentioned. F. C. Watford was charged with keeping liquor for -sale, and H.’ M. Bod-ding-ton, secretary of the" Club; was charged with allowing .3. place under his control’ 'SO be used for the purpose of keeping the liquor. Mr B'url-idge, who appeared for the Crown, asked for an a.djournment' till a date to suit Mr C. P. Skerrett, K.C._, who was appearing for the Defence. I\lr Logan said he appeared for the defendants, and .agreed ‘to the adjournment. The cases ‘were adjourned accordingly. A case against Johnson and CO,, of VVelling’rovn_. for a breach of the Licensing Act, was then called. Sergeant Miller said a simliar case was to be heard againsf‘ Harold Brown, of Wellington. . Counsel in Wellington had written suggesting an adjournment. Mr Free, S.M., granted an adjournment til] February 13th.
