This afternoon F. J. Needhum, marmger of the shipping department of the New Zealand R(‘.fl'igel‘a.ting Cdrnpally was summoned by the Govei-nment fo attend the Magistrafe"’s Court. on .jT:muary 28th to defclld Charges laid against him under the War Regulations, No specific charge was set out, but the case is known to be in connection with the recent disaster to the coastal steamer Tainui. A similar charge has been laid against Claude Smellio, coastal shipping clerk for the company. It has not yet been served on him, as he is at present absent on holiday leave.
