EX-KAISER’S TRIAL.
OPPOSITION IN GERMANY. LONDON, Jan. 12. The Daily Chronicle’s Berlin correspondent states that even the Social Democrats are joining in the campaign against the extradition of the ex-Kai-ser and other war criminals. Otto Landsbegh. in an article prominently displayed 1 in Vorwacrts, says that the trial would make the Kaiser a martyr and thus play into the reactionaries1 ’ hands. He asks: Do Frenchmen and Englishmen wish to help pan-Germans? Extradition will play a great part in th e coming general election as a weapon against the present Government.
ANGLO-GERMAN relations. THE OLD ORDER RETURNING. LONDON, Jan. 10. It is officially stated that resumption of direct Anglo-German relations will be marked 1 by three distinct stages; (1) Th e appointment of charges d’Affaires, consuls, and con-sul-general; (2) The creation of the status of a legation, and (3) Full restoration of ambassadorship. The Germans arc making ready to rc-occupy the London Embassy.
