CLABBY TO FIGHT TRACEY.
CHALLENGER FOR FEATHER-'\VEIGI-IT TITLE. TWO MATCHES AT HAI\'III'..TON. A little comment. has been excited by the fact that Hamilton has outbid Auckland for the fight between Jimmy Clabby, the Irish-American middleweight, and J_ Tracey’, the Australian heavy. Both the 011911 have now agreed to meet at Hamilton in a. 15round match on Sa.turda3’ night, February 7, for a purse of £4OO. There is a very bright nlght’s sport in store for this date, for besides this fight there will be 15 rounds, or less if necessary, to decide whether L. Robinson, of Gisborne, shall retain his title as New Zealand professional featherweight champion. His challenger is W. Oliver, of Auckland. There is every reason to believe that the feather bout will be good and fast. Both the -boys are goo_d boys,‘ and have a good score of wins to their credit. Robinson is well enough known everywhere, and Oliver joined the ranks of the professionals after the amateur featherweight contest under the N.B.A. a short time ago. Some who; saw both Clabby and Tracey in action agains«t‘Pooley are inclined to think the American is the Slll.{ll't-Ol‘ and more scientific »man_ Tracey is making hislheadquarters in ‘Auckland, and will do his pr€pal‘iltol‘Y Work in the Donovan Brothers,’ Gym‘ nasium at Parnell. He will commence his hard work about the 17th of this month, under “Duke” Mullins. the World-renowned trainer, who reckons the match will be an even one, He says his charge had had 110 fight pre-_ vious to meeting Pooley for two years and a—quarter_. and he thinks he can steady up the mligy, boyish Australian. enough to .%'lVc Clabby all he wants. At all events, there is no gainsaying the drawing power of these two matches. the one to decide whether Clabb_V’s smartness will defeat. Trace_v’s a(lvallt.a,r:e of height, weight, and reach, and the other for the feai'her~ weight title.
