Young; in the chair. 3_ Before the business of the meeting’ jwas proceeded with, feeling reference 1 was made to the death since last meet» ing of the council of Mr A. H. Mellor, traffic manager at Greymouth, whd was ‘a member of the fir.st el£ccutiV€3 council of the institute. ' The chairman touched briefly on thé incrased cost of living, which bade pressed so heavily on the members 01! the Institute in common with thd general public. and pointed out thaq the great increases which had takeli place in recent years were undoubted-c ly due to the large quantit Yof Dabef money circulating. This, he said, applied throughout ‘the Whole World. The council then proceeded to con-4 sider fhe agenda paper which was a: lengthy document comprising no fewer than 114 1-emits. A discussion took‘ place on anomalies appearing in tlid 1919 Classification _List, and considerable dissatisfaction VF-as expressed by delegates fr6"rfi"‘2l‘.ll Branches at the unfair treatment which officers had received, especially officers with long service. The debate- is proceeding.
